Macca, Mike W and I went for an early walk up the hill at Panormitis, at 6.30 am to take in the view and get a bit of exercise before setting out for Tilos. We came across a local shepherd with a large herd of goats, and David Lovell came running past up a 10 degree incline, keeping fit for his next marathon.

Before departure we went ashore and got some fresh bread from the baker, and a small truck loaded with fresh produce had set up shop at the edge of town, so we bought some fresh tomatoes and nectarines.
At 9am we weighed anchored and headed out of the bay motoring for a little while until the wind came up before setting a course for Tilos. We had a terrific sail and managed to stay on course without tacking. “ Pamina Blue” decided to chase some wind, but ended up arriving a good 40 minutes behind us. The cat couldn’t quite sail high enough, so motor sailed much of the way.
We anchored in the bay at Lavadia, about 200m off the beach. The view is stunning. We were immediately in the water having a swim.

Despite a little reticence to visit Tilos by some of the fleet, because it is a little out of the way, once we arrived there was immediate talk of staying another day. The water is as clear as we had seen. We are anchored in 10m of water and can clearly see the anchor on the bottom. It is a very pretty little village, without the tourist trap feel about it.

The "beach" outside a cafeWe went ashore and checked out the many restaurants for a suitable place for dinner, and also went in the local mini mart to top up on supplies. We noticed one of the small hotels at the end of the beach had free wifi access, so decided to come back ashore later with the computer to update the blog, check email etc. There was no internet access on Panormitis.

After updating the blog we booked dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants that had a whole goat roasting on a spit. Many of us ordered it for our main course and it was very nice.

We have and earlier start tomorrow for Rhodes, around 40nm, so it was a relatively early night for all.
