16th June 2011
This morning there is no breeze, so it looks like we will be motoring most of the way to our next destination Datca. We need to get there by around 2pm to meet up with a customs agent to get clearance procedures under way to sail to Greece tomorrow.
It is around 20nm to Datca, and we were motoring along at about 7.5 knots, so decided to find a bay to anchor in to have lunch and a swim. “Pamina Blue” decided to continue on to Datca, so only “Risus” and “Xenia” diverted for a swim.
We anchored behind an island in a nice bay for lunch and a swim
We pulled up anchor at 12.30pm to head into Datca which was only an hour away. Berthing was stern to to the seawall along the front of the village with an anchor laid out on the way in.
Our boats berhed at Datca
The customs agent materialized from somewhere, collected our passports and ships papers and disappeared, only to return with our passports an hour later. He will need to come and get them again tomorrow morning and get them stamped to exit Turkey, as well as returning updated ship’s papers.
Datca is a very pretty small village with good facilities for provisioning the boat and lots of shops, restaurants and a few banks.
The waterfront at Datca
We found a nice restaurant overlooking the harbor and enjoyed the best meal we had had yet in Turkey.
The Lovell's get settled for dinner at the restaurant
"Xenia" crew at dinner (check out the view)
"Pamina Blue" crew dress locally for dinner (or perhaps it is a little cool)
Looks like a fantastic time being had - reminding me of when I lived in Greece (nearby island of Kalymnos) in 1991! Here's one shot and I think that could be Turkey in the background there (it was very close)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all this Mike and Carol - who knows you might even get Mark blogging, or at least guest-posting again.
Here's me in Kalymnos "just a few" years ago :-)
